Our Journey to Becoming a School of Sanctuary
In 2023, St Kentigern's took time to reflect on who we are as a school, our place within our community and our role in the wider world. We explored how, through our actions, we could live out our faith by loving and supporting God's mission and showing compassion, welcome and hope to others.
As part of this journey, we decided that we wanted to become a School of Sanctuary - a school where everyone feels welcome, safe, valued and included, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Our school community embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and commitment. Together, we learned, listened, reflected and took action to make a positive difference within our school, our community and beyond.
After two years of learning and working together, we were incredibly proud to achieve our School of Sanctuary status in 2025.
Below is a snapshot of our journey and some of the ways in which our pupils, staff, families and wider community have worked together to make St Kentigern's a place of welcome, belonging and hope.
We are proud of what we have achieved, but we recognise that becoming a School of Sanctuary is not the end of our journey. It is an ongoing commitment to continue learning, welcoming others and putting our faith into action.
