Year 4

My name is Mr Willis and I am the Year 4 class teacher. Our Year 4 teaching assistants are Mrs Ogden and Miss Kania. Mrs McGrath will also be supporting our class three mornings per week.

Year 4 is a time of growing independence for your children. In our classroom, children will continue to develop as individuals and also share the love of God. Planning their own liturgies and presenting to the class more frequently will allow their independence to build along with their confidence and resilience. New opportunities will present new ways to be challenged and children will become more aware of how to be independent and focused learners.

Children will be introduced to a range of great texts as class novels in order to further develop a passion for stories and reading. Modern and award-winning titles such as ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’ and 'How to Train Your Dragon' will be studied alongside the classic Roald Dahl novel 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. Other texts, such as 'Maat's Feather' will help us dive into our History learning and meet characters in historical settings. The different topics throughout the year will encourage their passions and interests to grow in different subject areas.
