St Kentigern`s Feast Day

As a class, we celebrated the Feast day of St Kentigern. We went to church and took part in a school mass where Father Nithin explained why St Kentigern was special and how important it is to remember him. We then listened to Mrs Robinson tell us the story of St Kentigern and we learnt all about:-

The Tree that never grew, The Bird that never flew, The Bell that never rang and the Fish that never swam.

We then created some beautiful mobiles by drawing and colouring pictures of each important part of St Kentigern`s story and they are now hung in our classroom for everyone to marvel at.

`This Little Light of Mine`

We celebrated Jesus being the Light of the World by creating our own lanterns that contained words and pictures to indicate how we can be the light in peoples lives. We collectively sang `This Little Light of Mine` using our lanterns.

Lent

We made our lent promises and learnt all about why lent is so important. We discussed how Jesus taught his followers the importance of praying, helping others and giving up things that mean something to us.

We also learnt the importance of Ash Wednesday and how created our own prayers that we used as part of our class liturgy.

Jesus teaches in the Temple

We learnt how Jesus drove out those that tried to use the temple as a way of selling items and taking money off those that did not have a lot. We gained an understanding of despite the leaders wanting to find a way to kill him, Jesus` teachings had people `spellbound`. We created some wonderful fans that showed the story of Jesus and what happened in the temple.
